BitChanger was a former user-to-user, auction-based Bitcoin exchange. In this model, sellers would list Bitcoin for sale and buyers would bid on the listings, with transactions facilitated directly between the buyer and seller, rather than by a centralized intermediary. The site was introduced around mid-2011 as a competitor to other anonymous-style exchanges. By early 2012, however, the service had ceased functioning as an active exchange, and there is little to no evidence of ongoing operation under BitChanger after that period. (en.bitcoin.it)
